I was sick of trying to find the right media player to play the different video and audio formats I come across. I didn’t want to mess around with plug-ins and codecs and I didn’t want something that was going to use all of my memory. SysPlayer came up in my searches and so far I’ve been pleasantly surprised. Within minutes of familiarising myself with the interface I was quite comfortable using the software. The interface is not the most attractive but it is familiar and certainly not the worst looking player out there. It does claim to be “extremely lightweight” so you do expect it to fall into the barebones category of player that will sacrifice features for performances. However, the SysPlayer does not seem to be lacking in features and is on par in this aspect with other commonly used players. It handled any and all audio and video formats I could throw at it and playback quality was also good. I prefer the functionality to flashy design. Another massive bonus was the ability to open an entire folder of media files, as I struggle to comprehend how some popular players omit this feature. However, I was unable to get HD Blu-Ray to work with the player and I also found the Webcam support to be slightly lacking.
Pros: Easy to use Good format support
Cons: Basic appearance
